Today's News...

March 22, 2017

Good morning!

Our symphony trip yesterday went smoothly.  The students got the chance to play their recorders with the symphony and sing along to some of the songs.  It was quite enjoyable!

We have music with Mrs. Macklin this week and books are available to buy at the book fair today and tomorrow.  This week we continue astronomy and begin opinion writing.

Thank you to all my parents who have taken the time to talk to me by phone or come in for a conference.  I have only a few more conferences to fit in.  If you  haven't already, please return the report card envelope signed since I will need that for the last report card in June.

I hope you checked the Friday Folder carefully for important flyers.  A pink flyer came home as an invitation to join Ms. Wunder in a Walking Club.  Details about it are on the sheet, and a permission slip needs to be sent in.  It will be on Monday  and Wednesday mornings, starting in April, from 7:45-8:45 am - so before school starts.  If your child is interested, I encourage you to send in the permission slip page as soon as you can.

There were also ENRICHMENT choices in your Friday Folder.  Please return those ASAP IF your child is interested.  Remember to send in Box Tops for Education. Look for those on what you buy at the grocery store and cut them out and send them in.  Our PTO benefits from that as well.

The 3rd grade teachers are also reading aloud the book There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom.  While this may sound like a silly title of a book, the content teaches all about tolerance and acceptance for those around us - a very important lesson.  When we finish reading the book to our classes, there will be follow-up activities - so I'll keep you informed about that as well.

The outside bulletin board now displays sea life projects.  There was a great deal of work that went into them, and they look so incredible that everyone should get a chance to see them!

*** We have a student with a SEVERE peanut/nut allergy so I would GREATLY appreciate it if snack that comes in with your child does not have any peanuts or nuts.  This is not just about seating arrangement, as the children share pencils, markers, and other supplies at their tables.  THANK you in advance for your consideration!

Remember if dismissal changes at all for your child, you NEED to send a note to indicate that.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Have a wonderful week!

Reading homework

March 23, 2017

Students will complete a "Family Traditions" worksheet.  In reading books by an author who was born in Japan, we are learning to appreciate other cultures and their traditions.  Please share some of your traditions so that we can in turn share them as a class.
